Goodreads is a social cataloguing website that was founded in America in December 2006 and launched in January 2007. The founders were Otis Chandler and Elizabeth Khuri Chandler.

Users can sign up and research books to generate library catalogues and reading lists. They can also create their groups of book suggestions, surveys, polls, blogs, and discussions. This app allows individuals to search its database of books, annotations, quotes, and reviews.

Goodreads is the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations. The registration for users is free and By July 2019, the site had 90 million members, and in 2013, the multinational technology company Amazon announced its acquisition.

It is possible to download the app through Google Play or App Store, it depends on the mobile or tablet version. It is similar to other social networks and you have to sign in and create your profile. The registration is also possible through Facebook and/or Amazon accounts. Once you have downloaded the app and created your profile, you have to click on the title and choose among different options referred to books, such as: “read”, “I am reading” and “I want to read” to put it on the list.

Goodreads App is a virtual community where people can research books, find new ones, discover the latest news and rate the books and share reviews.

As a social network, Gooodreads also allows you to add friends, reading recommendations, author profiles to follow to keep up to date with the latest releases from your favourite writers, reading challenges and the ability to scan books for quick and easy access.

Of course, it is not the only tool available, but it is one of the most popular and used by users all over the world.
